Al’s Deli

Three people had recommended Al’s Deli as a good place to go for lunch in Evanston, so today I made the trip. It is not exactly much of a trip. All I had to do was walk a few blocks.

Al’s Deli is located in a predominantly residential neighborhood. It benefits from being on Noyes Street with a good amount of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. It is almost directly below an elevated train station.

It is not a place one would tend to notice, despite its red neon light in the window.

The establishment is operated by people who really love Europe, particularly France and England. They openly profess that love on their website and through the many decorations on the walls.

Al’s Deli is famous for its large sandwiches. I purchased a smoked turkey on seven grain bread with swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo and French grainy mustard. I also bought a chocolate chip cookie for Adam. I paid with U.S. dollars.

The sandwich was great. Adam gave an “OK” grade to the cookie.
